"American folk rock band. Formed by three members: Stephen Stills (formerly of Buffalo Springfield), David Crosby (formerly of the Byrds), and Graham Nash (formerly of the Hollies). The abbreviation is CS&N. In 1969, they released their debut album, Crosby, Stills & Nash. They gained popularity with their acoustic-based sound and exquisite chorus work that made the most of the three members' individuality. They later welcomed Neil Young as guitarist and became active under the name Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSN&Y). CD Journal commentary
Crosby, Stills & Nash celebrated their 45th anniversary of formation in 2013. Their 4-disc box set, CSN, was released in 1991. The contents are the same! It covers not only the best songs from the CS&N era, but also from CSN&Y, Manassas and each solo work, and also includes many unreleased takes and alternate versions that have never been seen before in this box set! The opening song of DISC 1 is "Suite: Blue Eyed Judy", and the closing song of DISC 4 is "The Price of Freedom", which is a great selection.
