The following is not CD information but my own monologue (as a GS fan)...
If you listen to these two CDs, you will understand how Garo's songs were pioneers of sophisticated urban genres. Kunihiko Murai, who later founded Alpha Music, created them before Yuming and Hi-Fi Set, and chose them as the vanguard of <New Music> against the <Anti-war Folk> and <Yojo-han Folk> that had existed up until then. This was reflected in the social climate and music environment of the early 1970s and the "intentions of the adults" surrounding them, as they tried and tested each single and in the albums that changed dramatically with each release. They were given the position of <Commercial Rock> and <Commercial Folk> (= PYG was the representative of the former and GARO was the representative of the latter), which are now obsolete terms, and the GS Tigers' writers were <Koichi Sugiyama-Kunihiko Murai-Michio Yamagami>, the production company was <Tanabe Agency>, and the group's godfather was former Tigers manager Nakai.
So it may have been inevitable that they would take a line like "GS's Dream Once More," which is the opposite of folk and rock, which emerged as subcultures that captured the hearts of young people mainly through late-night radio and joint concerts. How did the boys of the time, who liked listening to URC and CBS-SONY folk singers, feel when GARO, who performed CSN&Y's copy at the Nakatsugawa Folk Jamboree, suddenly donned a purple shiny suit, with a flower in his chest, and rose to the living rooms of living rooms and the Red and White Song Battle? Although "Kimi no Tanjou" and "22-sai no Wakare" are songs about the same situation in the same era, sung by the same folk group of three, the two songs seem to be very far apart. However, the term "commercial rock/folk" itself has hardly been heard since "Tsumagoi in 1976," and Japanese folk and rock have begun to grow into a huge music industry. Unfortunately, GARO also stopped activities and disbanded around this time. Incidentally, the recording members of their second album [GARO 2], recorded in early 1972, were all the members of PYG at the time, including G/Takayuki Inoue, Katsuo Ohno on keys, Shuzo Kishibe on bass, and Yujin Harada on drums. At this time, PYG had not yet become the "Inoue Band," so in a sense this album could be called a historic album of "GARO with PYG." As a result, this album, which did not include a single song that they composed themselves, reached number one on the Oricon charts and sold 160,000 copies. (From the above website)
P.S. If "Himai no Gakufu" had been given to the Tempters a little earlier, it would have been a big hit with the double vocals of Shoken and Yocchin...
I am selling this item to clear out my inventory. It has been carefully stored, and although the record is clean, there is some fading on the right side (image 1) due to the long storage period. Please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive to such things. No claims or returns will be accepted. I will do my best to ship as quickly as possible.
